There was lots to enjoy at Cotton End Village Show this afternoon: the Toddington Town Band entertained, there were classic cars, archery, football, a dog show, best-dressed scarecrow competition and a fiendishly difficult game involving marbles. There were also stands from the many village groups.

My wife was the Borough Councillor for Cotton End until June of this year and it's a village where I've always been impressed there is so much going on.

I chatted at the British Legion stand to Martin, who served in the Navy. The Legion campaigns for serving and ex-serving service personnel and their families, but you don't have to have served in the forces to become a member and support their work. See the link below for more information.

It was also good to the see the Bedford Credit Union at the Show. A credit union is owned and run by members and allows you to take out and payback a loan whilst saving regularly, for instance saving for the back the school costs. The credit union is an alternative to High Street banks (never a better time to consider an alternative!) and doorstep lenders. It's run by local people. To find out more see the link below.
