The next stage in ending the Coronavirus Lockdown

March 28, 2021 8:00 AM

Step 1bIn the week that we saw the anniversary of the first Lockdown and had a National Day of Reflection, I would like the remind everyone to continue to follow the guidance.

We continue to see progress, but we need to continue to all minimise the impact of Coronavirus by remembering to wash or sanitise our hands on a regular basis, wear a face covering where needed and provide space to others by social distancing.

On Monday, we will see the second stage of Step 1 of the Roadmap out of Lockdown. We will again be able to meet outside in groups of up to 6 or with one other household. Outdoor sports facilities can reopen and formally organised outdoor sports can restart, while all children will be able to access outdoor childcare and supervised activities. We will no longer be required to Stay at Home, but travel should still be minimised.

As Lockdown eases I would also urge people to follow advice from shops, businesses, schools and leisure facilities who may have additional guidance.

It was National Day of Reflection on Tuesday and we lit Riverside Bridge and the Town Bridge yellow to remember those who have died in the last year - you can see photographs here.
